Quotes:
“One of the most popular games to watch on eSports is ‘League of Legends,’ a game that blends role-playing, managing resources and shouting at your friends. Again, if I had another thousand words, I might be able to scratch the surface of this game, but all you need to know is that gamers love to play it, and even more of them love to watch it.”
“I don’t just write a script, and then someone takes it away and builds a game. I am continually getting input in order to create a big suspension field to hold the gameplay together so that the gamers aren’t doing arbitrary tasks, so that they are doing things that seem meaningful.”
“To allow our audiences to watch more professionally produced video content, we acquired Major League Gaming MLG and we expect MLG to become the ‘ESPN of video games’ with a focus on the celebration of gamers, both amateur and professionals.”
Competitive gaming has intrigued the older generations as well as the younger ones, this comes down to one simple factor, convenience; The convenience of being able to compete in tournaments from your very own home, the convenience of being able to win lots of money on your couch, the convenience of gaining popularity from doing something that you genuinely love, not everyone can say that what they do for work is what they love. But why are these aspects important to the younger generations who either can compete or are just confused where such a path would lead them, this pathway in high school can carry a student through multiple college scholarships and help them early on in life.
