The student council has changed many things with the goal of improving the school environment. The biggest things that have changed were making the ‘Raccoon Rally’, which is freshman orientation, different, so now instead of the pep rally, incoming freshmen get to tour the school and talk to students who are on a panel. Projects for this school year include the Homecoming Dance, this Saturday, September 14.
The student council president tells what they have done to improve student participation and interest in events.
“A great example is our homecoming dance,” said Daryana Botts, the student council president. “Most students are interested in this event that we usually do every year.”
Botts discussed the projects and objectives that the student council wants to achieve with the students so that they are interested in coming to school.
“We know that some students don’t like going to school,” Botts said. “But it can be fun if we make it that way.”
The student council has worked with students, so that each student feels comfortable and knows that participating is fun.
“We have partnered and met with various organizations to improve and represent our school,” Botts said. ”We have also created several committees, to represent everyone in the school.”
