10 Things I Hate About You is a modern take on Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, which takes place at a high school in the late nineties. The 1999 romantic comedy stars Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles. This is a good example of a perfectly cast film as the actors were always in sync.
This romance-comedy will make you laugh, cry, and make you press rewind. Frisco High School sophomore Kate Gomez is a big fan of the film. “I Think 10 Things I Hate About You is a fantastic movie that accurately depicts how men should treat women in our society,” she said. The relationship between the main characters illustrates how opposites often attract and that good things come to people when they need it most.
10 Things was a major influence on FHS sophomore Kayla Alcindor. “This movie has changed my life,” she said, “especially the way I view love.”
Both girls agreed that 10 Things I Hate About You, is one of the most compelling re-tellings of their generation. Even Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie four and a half stars which is remarkably high considering the site’s reputation for harsh ratings.
10 Things I Hate About You has evolved into a film classic that will only gain more love as time passes.
