The third pep rally of the year, featuring holiday themed games, choreography and music, took place on Dec. 16. 

“In the pep rally, we [student council] organized a game where we asked teachers to run in Christmas costumes like a polar bear, a gingerbread man and Santa,” sophomore Kavya Setty said. 

According to student council members, the staff race was a popular favorite amongst the crowd.

“[My favorite part of the pep rally was] the race because we cheered for amazing teachers who put themselves out there and raced in front of the school in silly costumes,” Setty said.

Pep rallies are a way to give students a bit of free time and to support their peers.

“We do the pep rallies to increase school spirit, give everyone a little break from class and they get to come and support [the school],” junior Elizabeth Shin said. 

The student council organizes pep rallies, and they use these events as preparation for future endeavors.

“I joined the student council to develop leadership, communication and teamwork skills that provide real world experience, and it also helps me advocate for students and improve our school,” Setty said. “We did this when we all organized it and we had to lead the pep rally activities.”

Overall, the pep rally facilitated schoolwide participation and kicked off the last week of school before winter break.

“The games we planned were so fun because we incorporated students and staff,” Setty said. “I enjoyed the pep rally because being able to share school spirit with everyone from each grade level gave me a sense of pride for being at Frisco High School.”
