The junior varsity girls softball team won their home game against Centennial High School at Jerri Cotten Softball Field, on March 10. 

The team won by two points. Sophomore left-field Kavya Setty utilized the skills she practiced during the game.

“Our game went really well,” Setty said. “We won, and we also got a home run at the end of our game. I think I did well on knowing whenever the pitches were too high or too low and knowing when to hit.”

According to the team, communication is important so they can play to the best of their abilities.

“During the games, we call timeouts just to make sure everyone’s talking, communicating and is on the same page,” sophomore shortstop and second-base Gia Thakkar said.

The players also prioritize supporting one another during games to build their bond as a team.

“My teammates have helped me a lot because even if I don’t do good, they still cheer, and they help me understand what I did wrong and how I could do better,” freshman right-field Siri Krishapuram said.

Setty described how supporting other team members is an important idea for the team as a whole.

“We have a concept called ‘mudita’, which is being happy for another person’s success instead of envying it,” Setty said.
