When someone brings up the spring semester, the majority of students focus on everything bad. Allergies, academic stress and storm season to name a few. While there are a few cons, the pros outweigh them, and the second semester doesn’t have to be as bad as people make it out to be.
Spring is known for being the season of rain, flowers and rebirth. Birds chirp, and the grass grows greener, making every second spent outside an enjoyable moment. As the temperature starts to get warmer, it is the perfect time to enjoy spring activities in the Dallas Fort-Worth area.
The Dallas Arboretum is a botanical garden with access to White Rock Lake, perfect for picnics and strolls. The arboretum also has monthly activities and festivals, something for every member of the family. Some of these events include 12 Days of Christmas, Dia de los Muertos and a pumpkin patch.
Texas Tulips, located in Pilot Point, is a family-owned farm where you can pick your own unique bouquet. Students go to have an enjoyable spring moment picking flowers with loved ones.
During the winter, seasonal depression starts taking effect due to shorter days, causing a lack of Vitamin D. During the spring, however, days start to get longer, and people can focus on their mental health once more. Going on walks can help a lot, not only to take in nature, but it also helps people produce endorphins, which makes them feel happy.
Apart from focusing on yourself, there are also hobbies that can help calm the brain. These consist of baking, painting and gardening. Baking is accessible to anyone as it is a way to make anything out of simple materials. There are also local pottery places such as The Painted Teacup where you can paint a plate and pick it up after a week for the final glazed result.
Though at first the amount of activities and a combination of factors during the spring can seem overwhelming, what people need to realize is that if they take a deep breath in, look around, and focus on themselves, spring truly is an enjoyable time of year.
